Is a home based business really right for you? Working from home isn't for everyone. If your already a stay at home mom, this may be a little easier for you to evaluate.

There are both pros and cons of working at home for moms. Both should be carefully considered when making your decision. Only you will know whether the pros outweigh the cons, or vice-versa.

Is working from home right for you?




Pros of Working from Home for Moms

  • Be there for your kids. You have the opportunity to watch and mold your children as they grow up. Avoid child care expenses.

  • Set your own schedule. Set your own hours. You can work around your family. Take your child to their favorite sport or activity.

  • Set you own profit levels. Your actions decide the cap on your earnings. Not a boss.

  • Job Stability. Job security is an illusion. You don't have to be affected by the whims of a boss or owner. You are the boss and owner.

  • Personal Freedom. You design your future. Make the decisions yourself. Make your vision for your family and business a reality.

  • Financial Freedom. Keep more of the money you earn. Utilize the tax advantages tax advantages of owning a business.


Cons of Working from Home for Moms

  • Must be accountable to yourself. You are responsible to your actions or lack of. Some people need to have a boss.

  • Working too little or too much. It can be hard to resist the never ending pile of dishes or laundry. Or if your on a creative streak, putting down your work can be difficult. Balance is essential.

  • Responsibility. Some people are scared of the responsibility of owning a home based business. Is it something you can handle?

  • Deal with customers. The majority of people are a pleasure to deal with with. Just realize they can have different expectations then you do.

  • Feel isolated. For some people, staying at home can be isolating. Especially when you first stay at home with you kids. It can be an adjustment. It took me over a year to make the adjustment.

  • Lack of space. If you don't have much room, this can be a deciding factor in what business you choose.
